The general chief of the Kimyal Morume tribe , Keya Busup, was finally arrested by a joint team from the Yahukimo Police and the Nemangkawi Task Force.
He was the main perpetrator of the attack on the Yali tribe that led to a riot in Yahukimo, Papua , Sunday (3/10/2021). The Head of the Public Relations Division of the National Police, Inspector General Argo Yuwono, said that Mourume was a person on the Police Wanted List (DPO).
“Arrested on Saturday, October 9, 2021 at 03.40 WIT at Jalan Gunung Dekai District, Yahukimo Regency,” said Argo, Saturday (9/10/2021). Besides Mourome Busup, the joint team also arrested another person named Beto Ordias. Currently, the two suspects have been detained and taken to the Yahukimo Police for further investigation and intensive examination.
“The case has been handled by the Yahukimo Police,” said Argo.
Furthermore, Argo explained, Morume Keya Busup was the Chief of the General Kimyal Tribe who carried out the attack on the Yali tribe on Sunday (3/10/2021).
Apart from the perpetrators, the police also secured a number of evidences in the form of a bow, nine arrows, an axe, a cell phone, electronic devices and other personal identities belonging to the suspect.
It is known that after the attack, the police arrested 52 people suspected of being the perpetrators of the attack. So far, 22 people have been named as suspects. The incident left 41 people injured and six people dead.
